Service & Repair

We pride ourselves on the service we give for our products. Crashed,damaged or tired instruments can often be repaired to perform as good as new. However where the cost of repair is uneconomic we offer our customers a discount on a new replacement. Unless we are extremely busy, repairs are normally completed within the week as we realise weekends are for racing! Always return Tachos (fully charged if possible) complete with bracket and charging lead as this can help fault diagnosis. Tachos can sometimes be converted to a different spec. ie; change of rpm scale etc. (depending on age and condition) so it is always wise to ask before throwing it the bin!

Technical

As with all electronic equipment Tachos can seem to have a mind of their own and sometimes indicate in such a way as to have you believe they are mal-functioning. This is not always the case and because Tachos are designed to pick up a clean and consistant spark any change in the spark due to other problems will cause the Tacho to become irratic or even cease working. The Scitsu Tacho has become, to some Race Teams, a valuable piece of diagnostic equipment. When a Tacho appears to give problems it is wise to check for other faults like; over rich mixture, a faulty or fouled spark plug, faulty HT leads, badly fitting plug caps or even a slowly degenerating ignition system. A classic of this is that the Tacho works fine for a few laps till the ignition gets warm and then seems to become irratic! or stops working due to a poor signal strength from H.T.lead.
